SSC CGL or BANK PO? Which job?

This is one of the most Puzzled questions in every graduate students mind who is about to prepare for Competitive Exams in India. Are you one among?? Don’t worry we are here to sort out with detailed information about SSC and Bank PO. Nowadays a lot of students are either preparing Government Exams as well as Bank Exams. Therefore, as a result, Students are in a Dilemma to choose which path. There is no specific answer to this and it all depends on yours.

SSC-CGL

SSC CGL  is the exam conducted by STAFF SELECTION BOARD (SSC) and it is for graduates in India. SSC is one of the biggest government job recruiters in India. Every year,  SSC CGL exam is conducted for various post in the department of ministry in all over India. It is a GROUP B & C posts.

BANK PO

It is the exam conducted for Probationary Officer post in Public sector banks This exam is conducted by IBPS( for about 21 banks) and SBI. It is a GROUP A posts.

SSC CGL

  • More responsible than Bank Jobs
  • Clerical works in the office
  • Desk jobs and field jobs available
  • Carry out Raids, Inspections, Surveillance etc.
  • Balance sheet checking .
  • General administration works.

BANK PO

  • Meanwhile deals with Customers
  • Cash Handling
  • High Work pressure.
  • Work Target

2.PROMOTIONS

SSC CGL

The promotion rate in SSC is slower apart from few posts like CSS, and Examiner. Usually, promotions take place in every 5-6 years. Auditor to Senior Auditor. Assistant Enforcement Officer promoted to the next level that is Enforcement Officer. Income Tax Inspector to Income Tax Officer, then Assistant Commissioner, then Deputy Commissioner and Finally Commissioner. Assistant in CSS promoted Senior Officer (Group-B Gazetted post) finally up to Joint Secretary.

BANK PO

When it comes to Promotions it favors Bank Jobs. The promotion rate in banks is quicker compared to SSC CGL. The probationary Officer promoted to the Assistant Manager then Manager then Deputy manager.

3.JOINING AND SELECTION PROCESS

SSC CGL

It generally takes 1-2 years for the process to complete and 2-3 year for the placement

BANK PO

It generally takes 5-7 months for the process to complete and 2-3 months for the placement

4.WORKLOAD AND WORKING HOURS

SSC CGL

In SSC CGL, you will have a proper work schedule and working time. Work Load is also less compared to Bank Jobs. But work time may vary for field Jobs like Raids, Audits etc. FIVE days(Mon-Fri) in a week there will be work. Normally have works assigned by the Senior Officers

BANK PO

On the other Hand no proper Work time. Certainly, they have to work 8-11 hours a day depends on the Workload. Workload and Timing usually depend on Your posting Areas.

5.TRANSFER

SSC CGL

However, Transfers are not that frequent in SSC CGL posts.

BANK PO

Meanwhile Transfers mostly take place every 2-4 years. If you don’t take promotions you won’t be transferred frequently(that’s not mandatory)

6.SALARY

SSC CGL

SSC CGL officers salary is high after the 7th pay commission rule. The salary is higher compared to Bank Professionals. Salary hike only in 10 years

BANK PO

The salary is a bit low compared to SSC. Salary hike only in 5 years.

7.SOCIAL STATUS

SSC CGL

This is to say SSC enjoys lots of perks and facilities Offered by the Indian Government.SSC has Social status in the Society. Assistant Audit Officer post is a Gazetted Rank Post which is not available for any Bank Jobs

BANK PO

But However on the other hand Banking Professionals doesn’t enjoy the perks and facilities offered by the Government Of India. You don’t have power until you become a Manager.
